Relic Entertainment

WDC has been partnered with Vancouver-based Relic Entertainment since 2017 raising an amazing $100k to date through sales of a special WDC-themed DLC (downloadable content) for the hit game Company of Heroes 2.  Like WDC’s adoption orcas, Fife, Bend, Simoom and Holly, the Relic team’s home is British Columbia, Canada – something that inspired the team to choose WDC as a charity partner.

Three orcas in the ocean

Company of Heroes 2, the incredibly popular wartime strategy game, developed by Relic, has been supporting our conservation work through sales of a cosmetic pack that enables players to alter the camouflage pattern on their military tank units with a whale, dolphin or orca theme.

“We learned that humpbacks whales and orcas were endangered in BC but this changed to due conservation efforts led by organisations like WDC which is why we believe in their work and we are very thankful to the players who have contributed to Relic to allow us to continue to support this organisation.”

The funds from this partnership have helped us protect orcas both in BC and beyond, including our work monitoring orcas (including our adoption orcas) in British Columbia at our partner research station OrcaLab, work to end the cruel captivity industry which has torn many wild orcas away from their families and habitats and tackling ocean pollution.
